Above the Victoria Falls, were the Zambezi River is wide, calm and placid, tourist activities include sunset cruises, canoe drifts, fishing, birdwatching and game viewing opportunities along the Zambezi National Park. Within the Park itself are several private safari lodges, which we visit as part of our multi-day trips.
Below the Victoria Falls the Zambezi River, as it twists and turns its way through the Batoka Gorge, is home to some of the wildest white water rafting in the world, complete with adventure activities such as gorge swings and bungee jumps.
Victoria Falls town is surrounded by National Park, and wild animals roam freely, including elephant, buffalo, various antelope species, warthog, vervet monkeys and baboons. Associated predators such as leopard and hyaena are also found, and very rarely lion and wild dog are also seen. Many are often found in and around town, including elephants, buffalo and the occasional lion!
